When Clowns Without Borders South Africa briefed us to develop creative to reach and engage teenagers and families in the North West, we suggested a narrative radio drama series because of its potential to:

  • captivate and reach audiences far and wide
  • ignite imaginations
  • use dialogue, humour and music to evoke profound emotional responses
  • spark thought-provoking conversations and
  • inspire action

We adapted Parenting for Lifelong Health (PLH) content to develop the narrative and relatable characters, scripted and produced the episodes and managed the broadcast over 12 weeks on North West’s Mahikeng FM along with live reads and expert interviews with community health care workers to promote, support and facilitate conversations with listeners.

The series centres around four friends and their interactions with parents, grandparents and peers.
Sinouvuyo’s Story was designed to strengthen relationships between caregivers and teenagers through
social learning and positive parenting techniques.
