On the eve of lockdown, Bloom & Stone was contracted to run aspects of marketing and comms for Gauteng’s flagship youth empowerment programme, Tshepo 1Million, through implementing partner, Harambee. During the early days of lockdown, radio became a critical platform to reach data-challenged young listeners and so, in a world where we struggled to make sense of COVID-19 and its devastating impact, we quickly shifted our focus from live engagement to radio and supportive social media and, as a first project of our new mandate, developed Bona, Corona! to introduce Tshepo 1Million to a wider audience and start building meaningful partnerships with community radio stations.
The 10-part radio series and digital comic books shared trustworthy information, dispelled myths, entertained, educated and motivated young people to keep hustling through uncertain times.

Zama and her team shine in the incredible work they do in community - their creativity, energy, dedication and authentic engagement is just amazing!
Bloom & Stone has been an integral part of SAPPIN for many years and we are extremely grateful for how they have shaped our marketing, website, communication and most of all our Families Indaba - an inspired event that exceeded our wildest expectations! Bloom & Stone is more than just a service provider, they have become a valued and trusted partner and we look forward to growing our relationship as we grow our network!
I have never attended an event quite like the SAPPIN Families Indaba and think more companies should embrace this kind of forward thinking when hosting conferences. The setup and execution promoted collaboration and input from all attendees from start to finish.
Terri, Vanessa, Zama and the team at Bloom & Stone have consistently demonstrated their exceptional ability to translate storytelling into meaningful social impact. Our collaboration with them on the Vulindlel' eJozi project with the City of Joburg and the Tshepo 1Million initiative with Gauteng Province was nothing short of transformative. Over the four years they worked on Tshepo 1Million, their hard work, creativity, and connection with young people in communities were evident. Their live experiences, strategic branding and compelling theatre and film productions have efficiently conveyed our messages and engaged our audiences.
I'm impressed with the whole story.
Talent on it's highest level, keep up the good work!
It’s highly unusual and extremely valuable to work with a communications agency that understands the objectives of the non-profit sector so clearly and has such a sensitivity and commitment to reach the intended individuals and communities.
